Strategy, Narrative & Communications

laura@nawe.mx

I'm a proud descendant of the original peoples of Xochimilco. I've spent more than 15 years in communications and marketing, but my approach is to add cultural relevance through my background in anthropology. My calling is social causes, and from the start of my career my work has been deeply rooted in activism, always from an anti-racist and anti-colonial perspective.

I've turned complex ideas into clear, creative narratives and digital campaigns that reach the right people. My specialty is crafting memorable messages and strategic content that amplify causes and projects. I've led communications campaigns and managed crises in political and government settings, advertising agencies, and nonprofits, with extensive experience in traditional media (TV, radio, print) and digital.

I'm a very creative, restless person. I love studying, eating dark chocolate in industrial quantities, and my guilty pleasure is romance novels. I founded and ran a vegan community center, hosted a podcast and radio show, created an anti-speciesist blog, and written countless columns. I've practiced yoga and avoided animal products for nearly a decade. Quinoa, my pitbull, adopted me eight years ago and we live peacefully on our mountain.

Strategy, Impact & Hospitality

jessica@nawe.mx

I'm a strategist in communications, marketing, and social impact, with more than 20 years of experience across hospitality, public campaigns, and cultural change projects.

I've led programs and operations in Mexico and Latin America, driving campaigns that have reached millions of people. My work has also taken me to collaborate with Maya indigenous communities resisting industrial pig farms on the Yucatán peninsula, supporting documentation, communications, and visibility of environmental, social, and health impacts on their territories.

Before all of this, I spent years in luxury hospitality, including Grand Velas Riviera Maya, which gave me a very clear (and very realistic) view of how the industry works from the inside.

I also founded Casa Animal, a community space focused on plant-based food education and animal rights.

Outside work, I make ceramics, practice freediving, and travel whenever I can. I have a very specific talent: finding vegan options in the most unlikely places on the planet. I love photographing animals, journaling, getting lost in crafts, and collecting miniatures.

I live on the Mexican Caribbean with my husband, my two adopted cats Makima and Gilgamesh, and Juicy, a 15-year-old senior dog who runs the house.

2020

How it all began.

It was 2020 — yes, the pandemic year. Two strategists with decades in communications, hospitality, and activism met at the world’s most unexpected moment. What began as a conversation about food systems and cultural change became something bigger: a purpose-led collective with the vision and tools to transform entire industries.

Laura from Xochimilco, Jessica from the Mexican Caribbean — united by the same belief: communicating well can change the world.
